Discover the Artist
The Jester Rapper
Count Alonzo is a new breed of Hip Hop with sounds that electrify and style that inspires. He spent his early years growing up in Harlem, and has recently settled in Maryland. Simply put, Alonzo is an East Coast artist with world wide appeal. Alonzo, born Brooke Macklin, started his path through music with the Classical Arts genre which includes piano, vocal and stage performance. He most enjoyed the recording aspect of music and decided to pursue it as a career.
At just 10 years old, Alonzo discovered the power of words in poetry. He wrote poems that courted young girls and impressed others. His letters of poetry inspired him to incorporate his other passion-music, and at that moment the artist in him began to unfold. His musical inspiration stems from 90’s Hip Hop artists like Redman and eclectic musicians like Andre 3000. Alonzo’s magnetic sound is owed to his classical influence. He manages to incorporate the very popular style of trap to create his own sound-Underworld trap. Music enthusiast are forced to have a good time while vibing out to his tunes. On the surface Alonzo is a youthful, budding artist pumping positivity into the community, but all things aren't as bright as they seem. He has grown through a rough path in his life, which is the reason behind the quote he lives by-“Temporary Pain for a Lifetime of Glory.”
Music was his escape from the only world he ever knew, but at times even music couldn’t be a savior. Alonzo struggled to combat his own drug abuse and would often succumb to his surroundings. He experienced a life changing event when he overdosed on ecstasy in the summer of 2012. That was the last time he would ever let a drug have more substance in his life than he did. Following his near death experience, He joined the Pi Beta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc. and recreated his circumstance. Music continued to encourage him and amazingly, that’s what has kept him on the right path. Though his experiences alluded to dark clouds, Count Alonzo remained optimistic and determined to pull through.
His journey is a collection of experiences that he willed himself to overcome. Throughout 2017, Alonzo experienced attending industry parties, performing at local venues, networking & educating himself on the industry at events such as A3C Festival & Conference (Atlanta, GA) and AfroPunk Music Festival (Brooklyn, NY), and even releasing his first ever music video-“G.o.A.T (Ft. Dionis)” followed up by his Official EP, "Journey of SirKnoxaLocs" set to release Q3 2018. Fans enjoy hearing his vocal variations and upbeat tempo. Alonzo plans to combine his 2 passions & brands, music & photography, in 2018 as he builds his Independent Artist Label, Jester Music Company LLC. Count Alonzo is ready and willing to break into the music industry, and with a mission to advance cultural and financial awareness throughout urban communities globally, he can't lose.
- "He has a flow and style that's so unorthodox that you can't really describe him, or put him in a box.....He's daring to do something different and he's clearly making the type of music that he wants to make! I believe when an Artist is true to themselves." ~ Joe Benson (Music Producer)
- I almost passed on this song [G.o.A.T (Ft. Dionis)] but it grew on me the more I listened! Close call! 3.5/5” ~ Yung Miss (LA On Lock Blogger)
